The development of relations with UNESCO in the field of tourism was discussed

The potential for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO in the field of tourism was a key topic of discussion during a meeting held on June 25. The meeting was attended by Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, and a delegation led by Ms. Gabriela Ramos, Deputy Director General of UNESCO for Social and Humanitarian Sciences.

During the meeting, Fuad Naghiyev provided an overview of the State Tourism Agency's activities, highlighting various tourism projects implemented in Azerbaijan and efforts aimed at preserving cultural heritage.

He emphasized the significance of increasing cooperation to promote Azerbaijan's cultural and historical assets that are included in UNESCO's list of cultural heritage sites. Naghiyev also stressed the importance of knowledge exchange in the field of tourism.

The Chairman of the Agency underscored Azerbaijan's rich history of trade and cultural exchange along the Silk Road, emphasizing the potential for the region to become a significant tourism destination.

Ms. Gabriela Ramos expressed UNESCO's interest in fostering intercultural dialogue and cultural tourism by promoting and utilizing common heritage along the Silk Road.

The meeting included discussions about plans to develop a new project within the framework of mutual collaboration, which would encompass a series of events featuring elements of cultural heritage and cultural tourism involving various Silk Road countries.

The participants also exchanged ideas regarding the terms of an upcoming letter of intent and the initial steps required to shape the content of this new project.
